Frequently Asked Questions
Why is an online, web-enabled microscope application better than a regular microscope?
DigiScope is a software, microscope application that outperforms conventional microscopes. For starters, there is nothing to break, repair or store. Also, teachers don’t lose valuable teaching time helping troubleshoot microscopes, ensuring images are in focus or the students are looking at the right item or feature. Finally, most slide sets contain 20-30 images. DigiScope slide libraries contain 100s of ultra-high resolution images.
What are ultra-high resolution DigiScope images? How are they made?
Our images are created by scanning professionally prepared microscope slides at varying magnifications with an industrial, medical-grade scanner. As a result, these images are GIGANTIC. If printed out, each image would be the size of a basketball court.
What slides libraries are available? Do these have to be purchased in addition to the DigiScope license?
DigiScope has slides for elementary, botany, zoology, biology, pathology, aquatic life, human anatomy, etc. (See Slide Libraries). And no, all slide libraries are available for viewing once your school district or school signs up for a DigiScope license.
Why do you have so many slides?
The number one complaint we hear from science teachers is the limited number of slides available to them. Most microscope slide sets contain ~25 slides. Students look through these and are wanting other slides and images. Plus, some slides are not prepared well while others get lost or broken. This is MAIN reason why we at DigiScope, LLC have accumulated 100s of images across a wide range of biology. Nature is unlimited. You should not be limited in what you and your students can view.
How do we buy DigiScope?
DigiScope is available via an annual software license for either your school district or your individual school. Contact us to schedule a demo and learn more.
Do we have to install any software or special hardware at my school or district?
Absolutely not! Students and teachers simply need a tablet, laptop or PC that is connected to the worldwide web to access DigiScope. No software to install or maintain. No special hardware or servers to purchase and manage. DigiScope, LLC does all of the hard work behind the scenes so you can focus on one thing… teaching your students.
Do you have DigiScope-specific lesson plans available to help teachers plan activities?
Yes. We have engaged various science education experts to prepare a variety of Lesson Plans to help get you started.
